Making a difference in the future, one student at a time

Staunton City Schools Family Life Education Program

Annual Review 2016

The Virginia Family Life Education Standards of Learning cover a broad range of topics including respect, conflict resolution, bullying, media influences, the human growth cycle, the process of reproduction, and information about sexually transmitted diseases.  Many of these standards are taught by classroom teachers and guidance counselors.  Only those standards considered “sensitive” are included in the Staunton City Schools specific Family Life Education Program currently provided to students in grades 4-10.

The Staunton City Schools Family Life Education Program curriculum and materials are always available for public review by appointment. From May 16- June 3, 2016, the materials will be available for public review at the Staunton City Schools Central Office with no appointment needed.  Community members are welcome to come during office hours to take a look at the program and leave written feedback if so desired.  We value your input with regards to the curriculum and materials.

If you have questions, please call Linda Mahler at the Staunton City Schools Central Office: (540) 332-3920.
